Amazon has opened its first Amazon Style store. The Los Angeles store marks Amazon’s first foray into physical clothing stores, with customers able to experience tech-enabled fitting rooms and a fully personalised shopping experience as it focuses on modern technology and brand recognition.
Visitors to the store use an app to scan their chosen items. They can then choose to either have them sent to a fitting room or direct to the checkout counter, where they pay using the new Amazon One palm recognition service.
If the customer wishes to try the product on, inside the fitting rooms are large touchscreen panels, allowing shoppers to browse additional clothing options. These can then also be ordered digitally and brought in for customers to try on. A personal shopping feature within the app remembers clothing preferences and uses AI to find other options that fit the customer’s style.
Amazon Style will specialize in high-end products from Lacoste, Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger and Steve Madden, among others.
